TANCAM–GSI/FAIR GET_INvolved Internship Programme

The TANCAM_GET_INvolved Programme offers international research internship opportunities at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR), Darmstadt, Germany.

The programme provides scientific and technical training in advanced research domains such as biophysics, material science (including nanotechnology), high-performance computing, radiation therapy and protection, accelerator technology, superconducting magnets, atomic physics, plasma physics, nuclear physics, and nuclear chemistry.

It promotes international mobility, academic collaboration, and research capacity building.

The programme is open to students studying in Tamil Nadu institutions under the following categories:

Category 1: Students
  • Belonging to engineering, mathematics, or natural sciences
  • 5th or 6th semester of a 4-year Bachelor’s programme
    OR
  • 5th to 8th semester of a 5-year integrated/dual degree programme
Category 2: Early Career Researchers
  • Enrolled in a PhD programme at TANCAM
    OR
  • Academic staff holding a PhD degree

Applicants must upload the following in PDF format:

  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 3 pages)
  • Letter of Motivation (max. 2 pages)
  • University degree certificates with final grades
  • No-Objection Certificate (signed and stamped by home institution)
  • Passport copy
  • One recommendation letter (from a senior researcher)
  • Enrollment certificate
Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection is based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Overall evaluation of the applicant profile
  • Relevance to research topics
  • Quality of submitted documents

  • Results are announced within 4 weeks.
  • Invitation letters are issued approximately one week after selection.

Students:
  • Minimum: 2 months (60 days)
  • Maximum: 3 months (90 days)
PhD Students / Research Staff:
  • Minimum: 2 months
  • Maximum: 6 months

Internships must take place between 15 January 2026 and 15 December 2026 and should conclude before 15–20 December 2026.

  • Students planning to undertake the internship during the summer break must submit their application on or before the last week of March.
  • The exact deadline date will be announced in due course of time through the official programme communication channels.

  • Internships are conducted in English.
  • Applicants must demonstrate very good proficiency in English.
